NEW DELHI — The Staff Selection Commission has announced a significant procedural modification for the Combined Graduate Level examination scheduled for 2026, introducing section-specific time allocations for candidates appearing in the initial and secondary stages of the recruitment process.

The preliminary stage will be administered through computer-based testing and will assess candidates across four distinct domains: General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. Each of these sections will now operate under independent time constraints, preventing candidates from reallocating minutes between different portions of the examination.

This structural change represents a departure from the previous format where candidates enjoyed flexibility in time management across all sections. The Staff Selection Commission's Combined Graduate Level examination serves as a crucial gateway for recruitment to various Group B and Group C posts across central government ministries and departments, attracting millions of aspirants annually from across the country.

The sectional timing mechanism is designed to ensure a more balanced evaluation of candidates' abilities across all tested areas, though it may require aspirants to recalibrate their preparation strategies. The Commission conducts this examination to fill positions in the Indian Revenue Service, Ministry of External Affairs, and numerous other government departments.
