Unlike sugar-laden commercial sweets, this homemade delicacy offers a balanced approach to indulgence during the summer season.

The primary ingredient, chhena or fresh cottage cheese, provides substantial protein content—approximately 18 grams per 100 grams—along with calcium essential for bone health. When paired with ripe mango pulp, the dessert gains additional vitamins A and C, both crucial for immunity and skin health during harsh summer months. Nutritionists suggest this combination makes it particularly suitable for growing children and elderly family members who often struggle with protein intake.

Dr. Rajesh Kumar, a dietician at Patna's Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, notes that traditional milk-based sweets like Sandesh are preferable to fried desserts common during festivals. "The soft texture requires no heavy cooking oils, and when prepared with minimal sugar, it becomes a genuinely healthy option," he explains.
